Facts and Figures
Academy for a Better
World is an Institution of higher learning, established
by the Brahma Kumaris. Ishwariya Vishwa Vidyalaya with
World Renewal Spiritual Trust and Raj Yoga Education &
Research foundation. World Renewal Spiritual Trust is
a sister institution, and Raj Yoga Education & Research
Foundation is a creation of Brahma Kumaris Ishwariya Vishwa
Vidyalaya. Both these institutions also are serving the
society through education in Values, etc. Brahma Kumaris
is also known as Brahma Kumaris World Spiritual University
in several countries. It is affiliated, as an NGO, to
the UNICEf and the Economic & Social Council of the United
Nations as or Consultative Member. Presently, it has more
than 3000 educational centres and Sub-centres in India
and about eight other countries where education in Values,
Human Resource Development, Meditation, Positive Thinking,
etc. is imparted.
The Academy for a Better World will be known, in Hindi,
as Gyan Sarovar Vidyapeeth. The term gyan Sarovar means:
The Lake of Knowledge. The name reminds of Manasa Sarovar
in Himalayas, the lake about which the legend and the
myth say that anyone who dipped into it, emerged as a
fairy or an angel.
The institution has built a modern village in a retreat
atmosphere, without disturbing the natural topography
and the original environment. One can see here a happy
blend of hills, village and urban and forest elements
and an eco-friendly atmosphere, Here are you will find
a couple of artificial lakes. This area is absolutely
free from industrial smoke and from the noise of mega
cities. Solar and Wind Energy and Electricity have been
used to have an environment free from pollution. The Academy
has many modern means of communication so as to be in
touch with the outside world.
Auditorium
The Academy has an Auditorium, named Universal Harmony
Hall, measuring 150 x 100 ft. It has seating capacity
for about 1800 persons . The Auditorium has facilities
for simultaneous translation in more than 16 languages.
International Centre For Higher Learning (Lecture Rooms,
Library, Research Facility).
For imparting courses to different sections of society,
there are twelve Seminar Halls or Lecture Halls. There
will also be a Library and Research Facility. The Seminar
rooms have a seating capacity, ranging from 75 to 150.
All these together constitute the International Centre
for Higher Learning.
Residential Complex - Rajshri
Bhavan
The Academy has a residential complex that can presently
accommodate about 700 persons and, very soon, the adjacent
residential complex for about 500 persons, who come for
various courses or seminars, will be ready.
Meditation Halls and Picture Gallery or Museum
The Academy has two Meditation Halls for practical courses
in Meditation and Consciousness-training and a Museum
that promotes positive attitudes and universal moral,
human, social and spiritual values. The museum has some
excellent paintings, models pictures that very thought
provoking.
Residential Complex - Rajshri
Bhavan
The Academy has a residential complex that accommodates
about 700 persons. The adjacent residential complex accommodates
for about 500 persons, who come for various courses or
seminars.
Dining Halls and Kitchen
The Gyan Sarovar Complex has a very big Kitchen and a
number of dining halls to serve vegetarian and Sattwic
food to about 1200 persons at a time. Delicious food is
prepared here. Smoking and alcoholic drinks are totally
prohibited here as elsewhere in the whole complex. This
gives a new experience to people.
Eco-Friendly Environment
After this land was acquired, the Academy planted about
10,000 trees so as to provide fruits and eco-friendly
and retreat atmosphere. Great care is taken to protect
the plants from the extremity of weather and 'drip system'
of irrigation has been adopted to ensure regular supply
of water. There are many other green spots and hundreds
of flower vases in order to make the environment refreshing
and health-promoting.
Administrative Block and
Other Facilities
The Academy has an Administrative block and such other
infrastructure and facilities as are essential to such
an institution. It has Reception room, Plaza, photo-copying
and photo sections, Audio and Video sections, dispensary,
etc
Built in Record Time
The whole complex was built in record time of about 20
months, after its foundation stone was laid. Hundreds
of Brahma Kumaris, voluntarily contributed their skills,
time and energy. Many engineers, architects, contractors,
business agencies, also made some voluntary contribution
of their know-how and supplies.
Various Types Of Courses
The Academy will provide courses in Value education, suitable
for different professions, such as Business & Industry
, Teachers, Scientists, Media persons, Doctors, etc. and
also for different age-groups, such as youth and also
for women, families, etc. But the main thrust of the teachings
would not be to have merely scholars and academicians
but better human beings so that we can have a Better World.
