On 8th August 2025, in alignment with the spirit of Raksha Bandhan and as part of the 5-year celebration of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan (NMBA), the Department of Social Justice & Empowerment organized a special event at Dr. Ambedkar International Centre, Janpath, New Delhi. The programme commenced at 09:00 AM, where sisters from the Brahma Kumaris tied rakhis to nearly 400 CRPF jawans and officers, symbolizing the bond of protection and purity. The event also featured a mass pledge ceremony, wherein all participants committed to remain free from drug use.
Hon’ble Union Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment, Dr. Virendra Kumar, administered the “Mass Pledge” against drug abuse and underlined the need for collective societal efforts to eradicate this menace. Hon’ble Minister of State, SJ&E, Shri Ramdas Athawale, highlighted the achievements of NMBA and its role in reducing the demand for drugs. Hon’ble Minister of State, SJ&E, Shri B.L. Verma, emphasized that substance abuse impacts not only individuals and families but also communities, contributing to widespread societal challenges and stigma.
Representing the Brahma Kumaris, Rajyogini Sister BK Lakshmi Didi, Additional Coordinator of the Medical Wing in Delhi Zone, shared the spiritual significance of Raksha Bandhan and inspired everyone to renounce the inner evils of anger, greed, ego, and negativity.
The IGP, CRPF, lauded the combined efforts of the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, and the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment in curbing both the demand and supply of drugs. He reaffirmed that CRPF officers remain fully committed to the vision of a Nasha Mukt Bharat.
The event successfully blended the cultural essence of Raksha Bandhan with the noble mission of promoting a drug-free society, leaving a lasting impression of unity, commitment, and spiritual upliftment.
