Technology has certainly enabled us to communicate more and more widely than ever before. There are numerous benefits that new technologies have brought into our lives. But at the same time, technology has opened the doors for a huge amount of information to enter into our lives.
Sometimes, I feel I am being inundated with a lot of negative news and troubling information about the world outside. It can sometimes feel as though I am floating in a world full of toxic energy, where my mind is absorbing negative news and vibrations of anxiety, fear, and worry from all those around me.
Let me take a moment to realize that there is a world outside of me which I cannot control, but there is also a world inside me which is absolutely in my control, if I wish to take control. My mind is the interface between the outer world and my inner world.
Let me choose to give time and attention to my mind, just as I take care of my body and pay attention to what I feed my body and when I feed my body. In the same way, I choose to pay attention to what I allow my mind to consume.
I need to know what is happening in the world, but I choose to know how much is actually needed. I respect my inner peace. I choose to honor my dignity and my inner self. I choose to filter what I allow to enter my inner world and what I choose to keep outside.
I remind myself that I am the master of my mind. My peace of mind is my personal property. My peace of mind is my inner treasure. My peace of mind is my choice. I will not allow it to be polluted by the news and information from the outside world.
I also know that whatever is happening in the world is a complex picture of multi-layered events with a long and complicated history. That takes a lot of time to understand. What I see on the news is simply a small percentage of the reality of the outside world, and so I choose not to absorb it or be influenced by it.
My first and foremost responsibility is to stay in the dignity of my self-respect. I am peace. I am light. I am silent. I am still. I am balanced. I am strong. I choose to remain in this awareness. I choose to honor my inner self.
