The Brahma Kumaris, Imphal Centre, launched the state-level ‘10 Crore Addiction-Free Pledge Mega Campaign’ as part of the nationwide initiative to inspire youth and citizens to embrace a healthy, addiction-free, and value-based lifestyle.
The programme was graced by the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Manipur, Shri Yumnam Khemchand Singh, as the Chief Guest, while Hon'ble Home Minister Shri Konthoujam Govindas Singh presided over the event. Among the distinguished guests were Rajyogini BK Nilima, In-charge of Brahma Kumaris, Manipur; Dr. Jugindra Sorokhaibam, Director, Medical Services, Shija Hospitals & Research Institute; Dr. R.K. Lenin, Professor of Psychiatry, RIMS, Imphal; social activist Smt. Ima Puinabati Konsam; and Dr. N. Irabanta Singh, Vice President of the Association of Indian Private Universities (AIPU).
Welcoming the initiative, the Chief Minister reaffirmed the State Government's commitment to restoring lasting peace in Manipur and ensuring justice for every crime committed during the ethnic conflict. He emphasized that those responsible would be held accountable in accordance with the law.
Highlighting the importance of the campaign, Shri Yumnam Khemchand Singh stated that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi's vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 can be achieved only if the nation's youth remain free from substance abuse. He expressed pride in Manipur's active participation in the nationwide addiction-free movement and appreciated the efforts of the Brahma Kumaris in promoting moral values and social awareness.
On the occasion, the Hon'ble Chief Minister presented the Universal Peace Ambassador Award to Rajyogini BK Nilima, In-charge of Brahma Kumaris, Manipur, in recognition of her outstanding contribution to spiritual service, value-based education, and social welfare.
The programme concluded with a collective pledge by all participants to remain addiction-free, spread awareness about the harmful effects of substance abuse, and contribute towards building a healthier, value-based, and developed India.
