2 December 2025:
An inspiring gathering was held at St James Church, Woodley, for the Magna Carta World Peace Conference 2025, convened by Dr Prem Sharma OBE and his dedicated team. This year’s theme focused on how India and China can work together for global peace, blending global perspectives with heartfelt local voices.
The event commenced with “A World of Peace” — a poem written by Dr Sharma, set to music by the Brahma Kumaris, and beautifully sung by BK Sister Damini. Although Dr Sharma could not attend in person, his message and spirit were strongly felt throughout the programme.
Speakers from various fields—including diplomats, councillors, academics, young people, faith leaders, and representatives from China’s Embassy and Henley Business School—shared meaningful insights related to history, economics, sustainability, diplomacy, and the essential role of spirituality in establishing lasting peace.
A unified message echoed throughout the gathering:
Peace begins within.
Martin Palmer shared a profound reflection:
“We will create peace not through politics, but through faith, spirituality and wisdom.”
Councillor Shahid Younis beautifully encapsulated the essence of the event:
“Peace is not a distant dream. It’s a daily choice of how we speak, think and treat one another.”
