The Brahma Kumaris Meditation Centre in Halifax, Canada, celebrated the 10th anniversary of Peace Halifax through a peaceful programme of music, meditation, and spiritual sharing.
The programme began with songs by Denzel Sinclair, a well-known jazz singer and longtime meditator. The event also included a land acknowledgment expressing respect for the Mi'kmaq people.
The Brahma Kumaris have been offering free meditation and spiritual programmes in Halifax and other communities in Atlantic Canada for more than 25 years. Peace Halifax was started as a special initiative connected with the United Nations International Day of Peace.
A special conversation took place between Judy Johnson, Coordinator of the Brahma Kumaris in Atlantic Canada, and Sister Gopy Patel, a senior Raja Yoga meditation teacher. Sister Gopy shared simple insights on finding peace through positive thoughts, self-awareness, patience, compassion, and service to others.
The 100 Days of Peace initiative was also highlighted, with people from different backgrounds participating in daily peace meditations.
The programme concluded with a Raja Yoga meditation, followed by good wishes for peace and happiness for all.
The celebration ended with music and a message that inner peace is a powerful gift we can give to ourselves and the world.
