The Odisha State Federation of Senior Citizens Associations (OSSCA) organized the Barsa Mangala – 2 Utsav on 12th September 2025 at Om Niwas, Brahma Kumaris, Unit-9, Bhubaneswar, with great enthusiasm and dignity. The program commenced at 10:30 AM with a session of Rajayoga meditation, which created a peaceful and divine atmosphere for all participants.
The formal inauguration began with the introduction and felicitation of distinguished guests, conducted by Dr. Jugal Kishore Sahoo, General Secretary of OSSCA, along with Ms. Jyotirmayee Jena of Axis Bank presenting bouquets and Uttariyas. The auspicious lighting of the lamp (Dipa Prajwalan) was performed by all esteemed dignitaries, marking a sacred beginning.
The program witnessed enlightening addresses by respected speakers:
B.K. Geeta Didi, Centre Head, Brahma Kumaris, Om Niwas, Unit-9, Bhubaneswar, emphasized the significance of spirituality in enhancing senior citizens’ well-being.
Dr. Madhu Madhab Jena, President of OSSCA, highlighted the importance of collective initiatives for the upliftment of elders.
Shri Saurabh Datta, Executive Vice President & Regional Branch Banking Head, Axis Bank, shared insights on the bank’s social initiatives.
Brig. Prof. Dr. P.K. Sahoo, renowned Neurosurgeon from Sunshine Hospital, Bhubaneswar, stressed the role of health and medical care for senior citizens.
Shri Biplabi Patnaik, Senior Vice President-II & Circle Head Odisha, Axis Bank, also addressed the gathering with words of encouragement.
The annual report of OSSCA was presented by Dr. J.K. Sahoo, followed by an informative PPT on Safe Banking delivered by Shri Somadipta Chandra, Senior Vice President-I, Axis Bank, which was particularly beneficial for the senior participants.
A short session for general public interaction allowed attendees to share their views and experiences. The program concluded with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks by Mrs. Gayatri Samantaray, Senior Vice President-I & Cluster Head, Bhubaneswar East, Axis Bank, who expressed deep gratitude to all dignitaries, guests, and participants.
The event benefitted around 150 senior citizens, offering them a blend of spiritual enrichment, health awareness, and financial safety guidance. The Barsa Mangala – 2 Utsav proved to be a meaningful occasion that reflected respect, care, and empowerment for elders, leaving everyone inspired.
