Aayi Noorani Deepawali

Diwali, Diwali — Festival of Light!

The radiant Diwali has arrived tonight.

Oh beautiful, divine Diwali,

So sweet, so bright, so heavenly!

It brings love, it brings delight,

Light the soul’s lamp, brother — shine bright.

Respect for all, goodwill for every being,

This tells the tale of the Golden Age’s dream.

We sing the songs of joy divine,

Bringing light where darkness confined.

We make ourselves godlike in grace,

Like lamps, we brighten every place.

As shining lamps, our mark remains,

Diwali, Diwali — the Queen of Flames!

Let hearts be pure and free of spite,

Forgive all — make everything right.

Sweeten speech like festive delight,

Heaven now comes home, shining bright.

Forget the past and old pain’s chain,

Diwali — Queen of Lamps again!

She brings love, she brings delight,

The soul’s own lamp — forever bright.
