“When you feel jealous of someone else's success or happiness and want to discover your own hidden potential, cultivate your gifts, and live more authentically.”
This meditation helps you understand jealousy as a reflection of your own untapped potential. It encourages you to recognize the qualities you admire in others and discover how you can cultivate those same qualities within yourself.
Through deep breathing, reflection, and visualization, you reconnect with your authentic self, let go of comparisons, and feel inspired to embrace new possibilities, take risks, and express your true potential.
How you want to feel
Life stages
When the soul gets jealous of another person's success or happiness, it is frequently an invitation to step through a doorway into a life of new potential. Oftentimes, jealousy is not about the other person, but about a quality I see in them that I also have the capacity to cultivate.
The soul sees happiness, success, dedication, or discipline and recognizes that, on some level, it wants those qualities but hasn't yet cultivated them. When we are jealous of someone, we are often seeing a reflection of our own potential.
Take a moment right now to slow down your breath. Breathe nice and deeply, and center yourself deep inside, in the awareness of being. Spirit beyond form, beyond matter. Deep inside, enter a thoughtless space. Allow your mind to clear and become quiet and calm.
Having cleared your mind, we're going to do a small reflection. Think of someone you have been jealous of in the past, or someone you are jealous of in the present. What is the quality you see in them that you want? Is it authenticity? Dedication? Determination? Creativity? Freedom? What is the quality you see in them?
As you think about the potential you envy in them, can you also see right now how you have that potential, too? They are reminding you that this potential wants to be awakened. Take some time to simply reflect on that.
When we are truly being ourselves, when we are being authentic and expressing the gifts of the soul, we feel content. We love being who we are and have no desire to be anyone else. That's one of the signs that we are truly being our higher spiritual selves in the world.
If we're feeling jealousy, it means there's a part of our potential that hasn't been cultivated. Allow yourself to contemplate: What can you do daily to cultivate that quality you see in another person? You don't need a master plan. You don't even need to know the big picture. You can begin moment by moment, day by day, cultivating that quality within yourself. What can you do, beginning now?
Take a moment now to imagine that you're already in that space of being fully blossomed. Imagine what your life would feel like with more adventure. Imagine the joy of being alive and the inspiration you would feel.
Imagine yourself taking more risks, being willing to be bad at something before you get good at it, and being willing to let go of other people's opinions. Imagine spending more time in the silent soul space that nurtures, heals, and strengthens you.
What would your life feel like if you were fully expressing your potential?
There are only so many moments and so many days in your precious life. Jealousy is an invitation to make the most of those days, to pass through a new doorway, to begin feeling more alive, to express more of who you are, and to let your gifts out into the world so that life becomes a dance, an adventure, rather than something you are just passing through.
Jealousy is a grand invitation, and it's up to you to respond.
