The Consulate General of India in Guangzhou hosted a grand reception at Hotel Shangri-La to mark the 79th Independence Day of India. The event was graced by the presence of Consul General Shri Shambhu Hakki, the Vice Chairman of CPPCC Guangzhou Committee, Mr. Gong Haijie, and the Deputy Director General of Guangdong Foreign Affairs Office, Ms. Qian Hongjie. Nearly 250 distinguished guests attended, including Consul Generals, members of the diplomatic corps, government officials from Guangdong, Hunan, Hainan, Sichuan, Fujian, Yunnan, and Guangxi provinces, as well as business representatives, scholars, Friends of India, and members of the Indian diaspora.
BK Sister Sapna was invited as one of the distinguished guests. Brahma Kumaris were honored with a special corner titled “Meditation & Ancient Spiritual Wisdom of India”, which drew a continuous stream of visitors eager to explore the depth of Indian spiritual wisdom. This unique initiative created an opportunity to convey profound messages of peace and spirituality to eminent dignitaries of South China.
In another significant celebration, the Consulate organized a flag-hoisting ceremony where the BK sisters from the Diamond Culture Group of Brahma Kumaris performed inspiring patriotic songs. Their soulful performance was warmly appreciated by the gathering, and the Consul General presented the group with a certificate of appreciation for their contribution.
Adding to the spiritual and cultural significance of the occasion, BK Sister Sapna tied sacred Rakhis to the Consul officers, staff, and members of the Indian diaspora, sharing the message of universal brotherhood on the festival of Raksha Bandhan.
