Observing Your Thoughts And Taking Control Of Them

Observing Your Thoughts And Taking Control Of Them

We do not usually observe or recognize our thoughts but now would be a good time to become aware. Pause, withdraw your attention from your surroundings for twenty seconds and observe what is going on inside your mind. There is always a constant flow of thoughts. Where do you feel them arising? From your heart? Gut? Or somewhere in your brain around the centre of your forehead? It is in your brain around the centre of the forehead where thoughts can be felt.

Notice that when you overthink or when your thoughts are cluttered, your forehead region feels heavy or aches.

The soul is a spiritual energy situated at the centre of the brain, very close to the hypothalamus and pituitary gland. The non-physical thoughts originate in the mind, which is a subtle faculty of the soul and create physical electrical and chemical energy activity in the brain, which is detected by physical instruments. That is why we feel thoughts at the centre of the forehead, just behind the eyes, where soul energy is concentrated and it radiates the maximum vibrations from our eyes.

The more we think, the more is the activity. If we do not check our thoughts, they keep increasing and make us more stressed. Sometimes the stress is more than we can handle and thoughts can become difficult to stop and they can also cause sleep issues. So, keeping yourself alert and preventing the mind from creating waste and negative thoughts is very important. Meditation silences the mind and helps us in this process. And also, a good practice is to stop actions every hour and observe your mental space and reflect on these questions every morning and at regular intervals in the day, to take control of your mind and make it focused on the present in a positive way:

  1. 1What is the thought on your mind right now?
  2. 2Are you thinking about what you are doing presently?
  3. 3Are you concentrating on the present action but are your thoughts somehow drifting towards a completely unrelated topic?
  4. 4Are you able to hold your present thought for a few seconds?
  5. 5Are you unable to really interpret what you are thinking?

Today's Learning

Today, let us pause for twenty seconds and observe the thoughts moving through our mind. Without judging them, we can notice whether our attention is present, scattered or caught in unnecessary thinking.
