The Brahma Kumaris UK organised an enlightening programme on "Yoga and the Science of Sleep" at Global Cooperation House, bringing together participants from diverse age groups, backgrounds, and professions. The event focused on the growing importance of healthy sleep and explored how yoga and spiritual awareness can contribute to improved sleep quality and overall well-being.
The programme featured Dr. Sat Bir Singh Khalsa, PhD, internationally renowned sleep and yoga researcher and Associate Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School, who returned to Global Cooperation House after a decade. Drawing upon decades of scientific research, Dr. Khalsa shared valuable insights into the relationship between yoga, sleep, and holistic health.
The session was conducted as an engaging conversation with Sarah Eagger, Chair of the Janki Foundation, highlighting practical approaches to addressing sleep-related challenges through yogic principles, positive lifestyle choices, and self-awareness.
Participants appreciated the thought-provoking discussions, which emphasised that recognising sleep challenges is the first step towards improving them. The programme demonstrated how the integration of scientific research and spiritual wisdom can help individuals achieve greater mental, emotional, and physical well-being.
The event reflected the Brahma Kumaris' ongoing commitment to promoting holistic health, inner well-being, and spiritual empowerment through value-based educational programmes and public awareness initiatives.
