An inspiring awareness programme under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan (NMBA) was organized by the NMBA Hostel Committee of NIT Rourkela on 29th October 2025 at the MSS Hall of Residence. The event aimed to sensitize students about the importance of a drug-free lifestyle and mental well-being, marking a significant contribution to the nationwide movement towards a healthier, addiction-free India.
The programme featured a motivational session on “Stress Management” by BK Sister Sweta from the Prajapita Brahma Kumaris, Rourkela Centre, who served as the Chief Guest of the event. Through her insightful talk, she emphasized the power of positive thinking, spiritual awareness, and meditation as tools to overcome stress and live a balanced, substance-free life.
Guest of Honours included Prof. Rohan Dhiman (Registrar, NIT Rourkela) and Prof. Santosh Kumar Sahoo (Chief Warden, NIT Rourkela), who appreciated the initiative and highlighted the institute’s ongoing efforts to support students’ holistic development and well-being.
The event was well coordinated by Prof. Susanta Kumar Bisoi (Nodal Officer, NMBA Hostel Committee), Prof. B. Kiran Naik (Warden, MSS Hall of Residence), and Prof. Sunil Khuntia (Assistant Warden, MSS Hall of Residence), ensuring the programme’s smooth execution. Special mention was made of Prof. Ramakrishna Biswal (Head, Institute Counseling Services, NIT Rourkela) for his participation and support.
The session concluded with all participants taking a pledge against drug abuse, reaffirming their commitment to a healthy, stress-free, and addiction-free lifestyle. The active involvement of NMBA Hostel Committee members and student volunteers from MSS Hall of Residence contributed greatly to the event’s success.
This awareness programme stood as a powerful reminder that a peaceful mind and a pure lifestyle are the true foundations of a prosperous future.
