The Embassy of India in Santiago, Chile, celebrated Diwali – the Festival of Lights with an atmosphere filled with warmth, joy, and unity. The celebration began with the traditional lamp-lighting ceremony — a beautiful symbol of light dispelling darkness and hearts coming together in harmony.
The event was graced by several esteemed guests including Pandit Ravi Kewlani, Priest of the Hindu Temple Santiago; H.E. Kurian Mathew Vayalumkal, Ambassador of the Holy See (Vatican); Sister Teresa Mello, Director of the Brahma Kumaris Organization in Chile; Ambassador Sergio Narea, Head of the Asia Pacific Division, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Chile; Mr. Nikhil Jain, Vice President of the Indian Association of Santiago; and Ambassador Abhilasha Joshi, Ambassador of India to Chile.
Their presence made the evening more special, reflecting the true spirit of Diwali — unity, peace, and the shared light of humanity.
Adding a spiritual fragrance to the occasion, Sister Teresa Mello from the Brahma Kumaris shared a touching message:
True Diwali is when each soul lights the lamp of inner purity and peace.” Her words deeply moved everyone present, reminding all that the brightest light is the one we ignite within ourselves.
The evening came alive with the rhythms and colours of India — from the graceful Odissi dance to the energetic Kalbeliya and the charm of Bollywood performances. Each act painted a picture of India’s vibrant culture and timeless traditions.
Members of the diplomatic community, the Indian diaspora, representatives from Indian companies, and friends of India gathered together, celebrating not just a festival, but a shared feeling of joy and connection.
The celebration truly embodied what the Brahma Kumaris continue to inspire around the world — a Diwali of the heart, where peace, love, and light unite all souls beyond borders.
