On 20 June 2026, the Brahma Kumaris celebrated International Day of Yoga 2026 with the programme “Beyond the Mat” at Five Dock, Australia. The event brought together members of the community for a morning dedicated to movement, wisdom, and inner stillness.
Aligned with this year's theme, “Yoga for Healthy Ageing,” the programme explored practical pathways to holistic well-being by integrating Hatha Yoga, Ayurveda, Traditional Chinese Medicine, and Rajyoga Meditation. Participants gained valuable insights into nurturing physical, mental, and spiritual health for a balanced lifestyle.
The programme featured an invigorating Hatha Yoga session led by Smriti Vaidya, followed by breathwork conducted by Dr. Poonam Mangalorkar. The event was graced by Mr. Niravkumar B. Sutariya, Consul and Acting Director of the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre, who shared inspiring reflections on yoga as one of India's greatest gifts to the world. He also appreciated the Brahma Kumaris for their continued contribution to the well-being of the Australian community.
A thought-provoking panel discussion was held with Charlie Hogg, Dr. Yoann Birling, and Dr. Naveen Shukla, focusing on healthy ageing, quality sleep, gut health, resilience, and the role of meditation in maintaining overall well-being.
The programme concluded with a deeply peaceful guided Rajyoga Meditation, followed by a shared vegetarian lunch, reinforcing the message that true well-being extends beyond physical fitness and begins with inner peace. The event received an enthusiastic response, and sincere gratitude was expressed to the co-organisers, speakers, volunteers, the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) in Australia, and all participants for making the celebration meaningful and successful.
