महिला सशक्तिकरण का अनूठा कार्य
प्रकृति का शाश्वत नियम है रात के बाद दिन और दिन के बाद रात आने का। ठीक उसी तरह जब-जब
For centuries, the role of women in society has been shaped by traditions, cultures, and deeply ingrained beliefs that often placed them in the background. In the distant past, there were times when women were revered as goddesses, symbols of wisdom and strength. But as society evolved, patriarchal structures took over, limiting their rights, voices, and contributions. Women were confined to household roles, their education restricted, their voices unheard.
And then, a divine light emerged—not from the noise of protests, nor from the struggles of revolution, but from a distant, unseen realm. It descended silently, yet powerfully, illuminating hearts and minds, signaling that a new era of transformation was about to begin.
Every year, on March 8th, the world celebrates International Women’s Day, a tribute to the resilience, achievements, and rights of women. But Long ago since, Since the 1930s, the Brahma Kumaris spiritual movement has been at the forefront of empowering women. At a time when women had no say in their futures, Brahma Kumaris gave them leadership, education, and the courage to break free from limitations. This is their story—a story of transformation, strength, and spiritual leadership.
In 1936, in an era when women had little to no agency over their lives, something extraordinary happened. A group of women in India—many of whom were young, uneducated, and from deeply conservative families—stepped into leadership roles in a way that defied every societal norm.
Guided by God’s vision and signals, Prajapita Brahma Baba recognized that true spiritual leadership transcends gender. With deep faith in the divine plan, he entrusted women with the future of Brahma Kumaris, empowering them as torchbearers of knowledge, wisdom, and selfless service.
This was revolutionary. At a time when women weren’t allowed to speak in public, let alone lead, Brahma Baba declared that they would be the spiritual mothers and guides of humanity. It wasn’t just about giving them a role—it was about acknowledging their deep, inherent power.
And among these remarkable women, some stood as guiding stars—women who redefined what it meant to be strong, wise, and divine.
Imagine a young 16 year old woman in pre-independence India—a world where daughters were expected to be silent, obedient, and confined to the walls of their homes. But this young woman, named Radhe (later known as Mamma, Jagdamba Saraswati), was different.
As Om Mandali (early Brahma Kumaris) grew, more women joined, seeking self-respect and spiritual freedom. But this empowerment sparked outrage. Society could not accept women choosing celibacy and stepping beyond traditional roles. False rumors spread, violent protests erupted, and legal action was taken to shut them down.
Through it all, Mamma stood firm. At this age, she displayed unshakable courage. She faced opposition, criticism, and threats, yet remained calm and fearless.
Instead of reacting, she radiated peace and faith. Even her critics often left as her admirers. People would say:
“She is not ordinary—she is divine.”
Recognizing her wisdom and strength, Brahma Baba entrusted Mamma with leadership. She became Yagya Mata Jagdamba (Mother of the Yagya), guiding and training the first generation of Brahma Kumaris teachers.
Despite her authority, she remained humble, a true mother to all. Brahma Baba himself said:
“If you want to see spiritual power, look at Mamma.”
This is the reason, Mamma was given the name “Jagdamba Saraswati” by Brahma Baba as she embodied the qualities of Goddess Saraswati—the goddess of wisdom, purity. She had an extraordinary intellect, a deep understanding of spiritual knowledge, and a natural ability to explain God’s teachings with clarity and sweetness. Her words had the power to heal, uplift, and transform souls, just as Saraswati is known for spreading divine wisdom.
Mamma completed her physical journey in 1965, but her legacy continues to inspire. She built the foundation for a movement that now spans over 110 countries.
She is still lovingly called “Mamma”, not just as a title, but as a symbol of divine love and strength.
Her story is not just history—it is an eternal inspiration.
Reflection: What does true motherhood mean to you? Is it about giving birth, or is it about giving love? Who has been a “Mamma” in your life?
Mamma completed her physical journey, the responsibility of leading this ever-growing spiritual family fell upon Dadi Prakashmani. At first glance, she looked like a simple, humble woman. But beneath that simplicity lay the strength of a mountain.
Dadi Prakashmani was called the jewel of light. Why? Because just like a diamond is forged under immense pressure, she too shone the brightest in the most challenging times.
When Brahma Baba completed his physical journey 1969, many wondered—What will happen now? The leader was gone, and the world was watching. But Dadi Prakashmani stood unshaken.
She gathered everyone and said:
“Baba is not gone. He is with us. And our mission has only just begun.”
Under her leadership, the Brahma Kumaris expanded beyond India, reaching every corner of the world. She met world leaders, spoke at international forums, and yet remained deeply humble—never forgetting that her first duty was to serve.
Her love was like a river—flowing endlessly, quenching the thirst of all who came to her.
Dadi Prakashmani played a pivotal role in bringing the Brahma Kumaris onto the global stage. Under her leadership, the organization expanded worldwide, fostering international recognition for its spiritual contributions. One of her most remarkable achievements was securing recognition from the United Nations, making the Brahma Kumaris an official Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) affiliated with the UN .
This historic recognition highlighted the role of spirituality in global peace and social transformation, with Brahma Kumaris actively participating in UN programs focusing on women’s empowerment, sustainability, and peacebuilding.
Reflection: Have you ever faced a moment where you had to take responsibility, even when you felt unprepared? How did you find the strength?
She was unstoppable. At an age when most people retire, Dadi Janki was traveling across continents, giving lectures, meeting dignitaries, and transforming lives.
She had one core belief:
“A pure mind is the most powerful thing in the world.”
Even science was astonished by her mental power. In 1978, scientists at the Medical and Science Research Institute in Texas, USA, conducted experiments on her brain and declared:
“We have never seen a mind so stable, so peaceful.”
She would often say:
“Why worry? If you have faith in Baba (Incorporeal God), everything will be fine. Keep your heart clean, and life will take care of itself.”
And this was the secret of her boundless energy—a heart free from burden.
Reflection: What are you holding onto that is weighing you down? Can you let it go, just for today?
In a world where leadership is often measured by words and actions, Dadi Gulzar led through silence—a silence so deep that it radiated peace to all who came near her. She was like a still lake, reflecting divine wisdom, purity, and unwavering stability. Unlike those who commanded with authority, she guided with gentleness, serenity, and spiritual presence.
Her greatest responsibility was as the spiritual medium for Avyakt Brahma Baba and Shiv baba, a role that required an extraordinary level of purity, stillness, and surrender to God’s will. Through her, Baba’s divine messages continued long after his physical departure, offering guidance to millions. Yet, despite this sacred role, she remained humble, detached, and deeply connected to God.
She often said, “Go deep within. Find your truth. In silence, one can listen God.” And indeed, her inner stillness had the power to silence the chaos in others. Simply being in her presence brought a profound sense of calm, as if the noise of the world dissolved in the ocean of her peace.
In Madhuban, the spiritual headquarters of the Brahma Kumaris, she nurtured an atmosphere of tranquility, ensuring that it remained a sanctuary of deep meditation and divine connection. She was not one to seek attention or recognition; instead, her silent presence carried more weight than any spoken words.
Even after she completed her physical journey in 2021, her legacy of peace, surrender, and soul-consciousness continues to inspire. She proved that true leadership is not about being heard, but about creating an environment where souls can hear God.
Born on March 25, 1925, in Hyderabad, Sindh, Dadi Ratan Mohini showed a deep inclination toward spirituality from an early age. At just 12 years old, her visit to Om Mandali—the foundation of what would later become the Prajapita Brahma Kumari Ishwariya Vishwa Vidyalaya—became a turning point in her life. Inspired by divine vision, she chose to dedicate herself to spiritual service and celibacy, embracing the teachings of Rajyoga with complete faith.
Throughout her journey, Dadi Ratan Mohini played a key role in the global expansion of the Brahma Kumaris. In 1954, she represented the organization at the World Peace Conference in Japan, later extending spiritual services to Hong Kong, Singapore, and Malaysia. She was instrumental in establishing and strengthening Brahma Kumaris centers worldwide, including in Mumbai and London.
Now, as the Administrative Head of the Brahma Kumaris, her century-long commitment to peace, love, and enlightenment continues to guide and inspire millions across the world.
These are just a few names among thousands. Today, A nucleus of 30,000 leaders driving an organization of over a million students across 110 countries.
They are running meditation centers, teaching spiritual wisdom, providing social services, and guiding millions toward peace and self-realization.
And why?
The empowerment of women was from the Supreme Soul (Incorporeal God) and carried out by Brahma Baba.
When the world said “Nari narak ka dwar hai” (a woman is the gateway to hell), he declared:
“Nari swarg ka dwar hai” (a woman is the gateway to heaven).
Today in the Brahma Kumaris women from all walks of life lead their lives with utmost clarity and purpose, a will to achieve the unknown and balance power and responsibilities with spiritual capacity”
The Brahma Kumaris movement stands as a living example of what happens when women are empowered—not just externally, but spiritually.
They did not demand their rights. They simply became so powerful that the world had no choice but to recognize them.
This is not just the story of Brahma Kumaris.
This is the story of every woman who has ever been told she is weak—and who has proved the world wrong.
And it is still being written.
Final Reflection : How will you write your own story?
