The Brahma Kumaris San Diego Center, in coordination with the Brahma Kumaris Los Angeles, USA, joyfully celebrated the Festival of Lights – Diwali with the inspiring theme “Igniting the Light Within.” The celebration witnessed the participation of over 100 guests, including both BK and non-BK members from across the San Diego community, who gathered to embrace the spirit of light, love, and unity.
The evening began with a warm welcome by MC Sister Vinothini, setting a serene and positive atmosphere. The audience was then treated to a soothing harp performance by Sister Kyoko from San Francisco, filling the hall with peace and calm vibrations.
Gitaben shared enlightening thoughts on the inner significance of Diwali, emphasizing the awakening of one’s inner light, and ceremonially lit a candle to symbolize divine illumination. A joyful Diwali game involving Indian sweets brought smiles and laughter, fostering togetherness among all attendees.
Special guest Pastor Sunil Rajah (Episcopal Church) offered heartwarming reflections on unity and spiritual enlightenment before lighting his candle. The gathering was further uplifted by Sister Elizabeth from Anubhuti Retreat Center, who rendered a devotional song and shared beautiful insights on divine love and light.
Distinguished personalities including Bishop John Peter Boonzaaijer (Episcopal Church), Neelu Bharadwaj (England’s First Indian Female Police Officer), and Pratibha Goyal (businesswoman and social activist) also shared heartfelt messages and lit candles, representing the flame of peace, self-awareness, and harmony.
In a touching moment of global unity, Sister Haleema (Seal Beach), Sister Kyoko (San Francisco), Sister Rosy (Mexico), and Sister Nima (Phoenix) came together to light a collective candle, symbolizing the shared light of souls across the world.
The event concluded with a Guided Meditation commentary by Sister Elizabeth, accompanied by gentle harp music by Sister Kyoko, creating a powerful atmosphere of peace and stillness. Sister Gita distributed toli and blessings to all, followed by food packets for every guest, wrapping the celebration in a spirit of divine joy and generosity.
