At the 23rd Convocation of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU) in Lucknow on September 9, 2025, astronaut Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla was awarded an honorary Doctor of Science (DSc) degree by Hon’ble Governor and Chancellor Smt. Anandiben Patel.
As chief guest, Shukla inspired students with his message that “sky is never the limit” and shared lessons from his historic space journey to the International Space Station (ISS). The event also honored 88 meritorious students with medals.
A special highlight was the Brahma Kumaris presenting a “divine gift” to Shukla, reaffirming his deep spiritual connection with the organization. This interaction continues a long-standing association, as earlier in June 2025, before his ISS mission, Shukla acknowledged that meditation taught by the Brahma Kumaris helped him remain calm and focused. Significantly, he carried a message from the organization along with the Indian tricolor to the International Space Station, symbolizing the unique blend of spirituality and patriotism in space exploration.
This historic convocation celebrated not only academic excellence but also the harmony of science, inspiration, and inner wisdom, leaving a deep impact on all attendees.
