On 29 January 2026, a meaningful Holocaust Memorial Day event was held at Harrow Arts Centre, organised by the Holocaust Memorial Day Trust, London Borough of Harrow, and Harrow Interfaith Forum. Members of Brahma Kumaris UK were honoured to take part.
With this year’s theme “Bridging Generations”, the programme highlighted our shared responsibility to carry forward the lessons of history. Representatives from 12 faiths, including the Brahma Kumaris, lit candles together as a symbol of unity, followed by a minute’s silence. Sister Rachel Priestman, along with Jamila, Nishit and Shantanu, represented the Brahma Kumaris.
The audience heard two powerful personal testimonies — one shared by Joan Noble about her mother’s Holocaust experience, and another by Sokphal Din from Cambodia, reminding everyone that genocide has continued beyond the Holocaust. Both stories were deeply moving yet hopeful.
The event also featured heartfelt musical performances by the Norbury School Choir and the Mosaic Reform Synagogue Choir, along with reflections from faith leaders and community representatives. The evening concluded with reflections from Gopaljeet Bhachu following his interfaith visit to Auschwitz.
The programme was sensitively hosted by journalist Steve Levinson. The event strengthened interfaith bonds and left everyone with a renewed commitment to remembrance, unity, and peace.
