The Brahma Kumaris, through the Om Shanti Retreat Centre (ORC), Gurugram, contributed to the vision of a cleaner and more sustainable Delhi at a multi-stakeholder workshop titled “Planning a Shared Roadmap for Clean Delhi,” organised by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (Department of Capital Development), Government of India, on 31 October 2026 at the India Habitat Centre, New Delhi.
BK Husain of the Om Shanti Retreat Centre delivered the opening motivational address, inspiring participants to recognise the deeper connection between inner purity and external cleanliness.
The programme was graced by the Secretary, Department of Capital Development, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, and the Commissioner, Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), along with senior officials from MCD and the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC). Hundreds of sanitation officers, inspectors and supervisors participated in this important initiative.
In her address, BK Husain conveyed a meaningful message:
“A clean mind creates a clean space.” She emphasised that lasting cleanliness in our surroundings begins with inner clarity, self-discipline and a sense of personal responsibility. When every individual performs their role with sincerity, pride and care, cleanliness transforms from merely a duty into a shared value and way of life.
Following the motivational address, she guided the participants through a short Rajyoga Meditation session, offering them a few moments of silence, peace and inner stillness. The experience helped participants appreciate that the purity and cleanliness of every external space begin with a peaceful and pure state of mind.
The programme beautifully highlighted the message that Swachhata begins within and reflects outwardly in our homes, workplaces and streets.
Through this meaningful contribution, the Brahma Kumaris reaffirmed the importance of spiritual awareness, positive thinking and individual responsibility in building a cleaner, healthier and more harmonious Delhi.
