Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan (NMBA) is a flagship programme of the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment (Govt. of India) formulated to reduce the demand for drugs of abuse in the country. It was initially launched in 272 vulnerable Districts across 32 State/Union Territories, and now covers 372 Districts nationwide. Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan (NMBA), aims to raise awareness about substance abuse among youth in India, with a particular focus on higher education institutes, university campuses, schools, and community engagement.
For creating awareness regarding de-addiction and recognising the strengths of the nationwide network of Brahmakumaris organisation in reaching out to a wider segment of the society, a MoU was signed between the Medical Wing of Brahmakumaris and the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment (MSJ&E), Govt of India on the 4th of March, 2023 at Dr Ambedkar International Centre, New Delhi.

नशा मानव समाज के लिए अभिशाप है और दृढ़ संकल्प तथा आध्यात्मिक पाठ्यक्रम के माध्यम से इसे हराया जा सकता है। नशा को बीमारी बताते हुए राष्ट्रपति ने कहा कि यह सामाजिक, आर्थिक, शारीरिक और मानसिक अभिशाप है। उन्होंने कहा कि नशा परिवार और समाज में तनाव पैदा करता है। इसलिए इसके दुष्परिणामों के प्रति लोगों को जागरूक करने की जरूरत है। राष्ट्रपति मुर्मू ने कहा कि जब लोग नशे के बुरे प्रभावों को समझेंगे तो निश्चित रूप से इसे छोड़ने की कोशिश करेंगे । राष्ट्रपति ने कहा कि नशा समाज का सबसे बड़ा दुश्मन है, इसलिए लोगों को इसके प्रति जागरूक करना आवश्यक है। उन्होंने आध्यात्मिकता के जरिए एक स्वस्थ समाज के निर्माण में ब्रह्मकुमारिज़ संस्था के कार्यों की सराहना की । साथ ही 'नशा मुक्त ओडिशा' अभियान की सफलता की कामना की।
ओडिशा के गवर्नर माननीय प्रोफेसर श्री गणेशी लाल जी ने कहा कि मन और बुद्धि से परे जीव है, जीव से परे माया है, माया से परे ब्रह्म है और उस पारब्रह्म का संदेश पूरे विश्व में फैलाने का संकल्प जो ब्रह्माकुमारी संस्था ने किया है, उसकी प्रशंसा शब्दों से परे, शब्दकोश से भी परे है | उड़ीसा को नशामुक्त करने के लिए हृदय में करुणा भाव की आवश्यकता है और हम सौभाग्यशाली हैं कि आप सब बी.के. के मन में करुणा है, आप करुणा के सागर है और इसलिए आप सफल हों, मैं यही मंगल कामना करता हूँ |

नशा मुक्त भारत अभियान बिहार का उद्घाटन करते हुए महामहिम राज्यपाल राजेंद्र विश्वनाथ आलेकर ने कहा कि अपने देश को नशा मुक्त करने के लिए जागरूकता निर्माण की आवश्यकता है | नशा नहीं करने का शपथ लेना तो सरल है, लेकिन निभाना कठिन है | शपथ के शब्द के भीतर जाकर उसके भाव को समझना चाहिए | उन्होंने कहा कि नशा के गिरफ्त में लाने के लिए बच्चे और युवा पीढ़ी को टारगेट किया जाता है | हमें सतर्क रहना है अपने बच्चों के प्रति | वह स्कूल जाता है तो आने पर उसका बैग चेक कीजिए | उन्होंने कहा मेरे द्वारा बिहार के सभी कॉलेजो को निर्देश दिया गया है कि बच्चों की उपस्थिति दर्ज होनी चाहिए | नशे से युवा पीढ़ी को बचाने के लिए सबसे बड़ा टूल है-जागरूकता | हम सभी को इसमे अपनी भागीदारी सुनिश्चित करनी चाहिए | आने वाली पीढ़ी को नशे से बचाने के लिए हम सबको इसमें सहभागी होने की आवश्यकता है |उन्होंने ब्रह्माकुमारी संस्था की इस अद्वितीय पहल के लिए साधुवाद दिया और इस अभियान कीसफलता की मंगलकामना की |
Addiction is a sign, a signal, a symptom of distress. After counselling some people say goodbye to addictions, but will stay recovered only if the life they have created is more rewarding and satisfying than the one they have left behind. And Brahma Kumaris are making a difference in the lifestyle of people irreversibly and they stay de-addicted for the entire passage of their lives.
NMBA has now become a mass movement and it is spreading day by day to every nook and corner of the country. On participation of Brahma Kumaris management in NMBA this time around, he said, participation of spiritual leaders will not only increase the outreach of the mission, but also help people keep distance from intoxication through spiritual enlightenment.
मुख्यमंत्री भूपेश बघेल ने नशाखोरी को सामाजिक बुराई बतलाते हुए कहा कि सरकार और सामाजिक संस्थान दोनों को मिलकर काम करने की जरूरत है। नशामुक्त समाज बनाने के लिए ब्रह्माकुमारीज की पहल अति सराहनीय है ब्रह्मकुमारिज़ ने केवल समाज को आद्यात्मिक दिशा देती है बल्कि साथ ही साथ नशे जैसी समाजिक कुरीतियों को दूर करने का पुनीत कार्य भी करती है | ब्रह्मकुमारिज़ जैसी और भी संस्थाएं आगे आएं तो सरकार की ओर से उन्हे हर सम्भव मदद दी जाएगी। उन्होंने कहा कि ईश्वर ने बहुत सुन्दर दुनिया बनाई है। यहाँ अच्छे-अच्छे लोग रहते हैं। सभी आपस में भाई-चारे के साथ रहें। एक दूसरे का सहयोग करें और यह दुनिया तरक्की करे । यही हम सबका उद्देश्य होना चाहिए। उन्होंने कहा कि नशा व्यक्ति को और परिवार को बरबादी की राह पर ले जाता है। नशा किसी के लिए भी लाभप्रद नहीं है ।
